These Driving Tips Can Save Gas
Today we’re all trying to save gas, even with prices lower. Why throw money out the car window? When you learned to drive, the price of a gallon of gas was probably much cheaper than it is now. Remember as a teen? How cool was it to drive fast, or just just drive for something to do. Now we need some tips on how to save money, and driving habits is just one easy way.
Today we have to learn how to drive all over again because of the fluctuating price of gas and to make an effort to save gas at the pump. We all have to buy gas ech week, for work and other necessary destinations. It’s not a bill that just comes around monthly such as utilities. It has become a perpetual strain on our wallets. so, here are some Gas Saving Tips to help you get started:
The best lesson you can learn is to drive calmly: slow down, be patient. Pretend you have a cup of hot coffee on your dashboard and you’re trying your best not to spill it. Driving this way will not only save gas but make you safer as well.
The faster you drive the more gas you use. Fifty-five mph is the best speed on the highway. Some states are again considering making 55 mph the limit on all highways to try to mandate fuel conservation.
Don’t drive crazy. Aim for smooth starts and stops. Pick a lane and stay there without weaving in and out of traffic.
Just drive less. If you can cut the number of miles driven by only 5% it can save you up to $100 or more a year. Doesn’t sound like much, but it can mean a free tank of gas or two.
Travel lightly by keeping extra junk out of your trunk! Extra weight can add 2% to your gas bill for each 100 pounds.
Today an old habit that’s not dying off is letting the car engine idle and warm up for a few minutes before driving. This isn’t necessary today, as cars can be driven almost immediately with warm up time cut to only a few seconds.
With these tips to save gas, you should be putting a few extra bucks in your wallet each week!
